Our Story

How Boran Legal Came to Be

Boran Legal was established in Bangkok with one purpose in mind: to offer families a calmer, more considered way through the legal side of inheritance. The name draws from the Thai word for "ancient" — a nod to the weight and continuity that estate matters naturally carry, and to the idea that some things deserve to be approached slowly and carefully.

The practice was founded after its principals observed a recurring gap in the market: families facing the loss of a relative, or trying to prepare for the future, often found themselves in the hands of advisers who moved quickly and explained little. Boran Legal was built as a direct response to that experience.

Working from offices on Bang Na-Trat Road in Bangkok, the team handles will reviews, probate guidance, and full estate representation across Thailand, including matters involving foreign nationals with assets here. Every engagement begins with a conversation in which no decisions are required, and where the family's situation is listened to, not processed.

The practice is small by choice. Smaller means more direct. Clients work with the same people throughout, and those people have time to explain things properly. That is not incidental to how Boran Legal operates — it is the whole point.

What We Are Here to Do

Clarity Without Pressure

Respect for Difficult Moments

Inheritance matters rarely arrive at convenient times. We approach every engagement with the care that the circumstances behind it deserve.

How We Work

Professional Standards We Uphold

Client Confidentiality

Thai Bar Association Standards

All legal work is conducted in accordance with the professional standards of the Lawyers Council of Thailand, including obligations around transparency and conduct.

Transparent Engagement Terms

Fees and scope are agreed in writing before any work begins. Clients receive a clear summary of what is included, with no additions charged without prior consent.

Diligent Document Review

All relevant documents — wills, title deeds, court orders, registrations — are reviewed thoroughly and explained before action is taken on any of them.

Cross-Border Competence

Experience advising on Thai estates involving foreign nationals, overseas assets, and international beneficiaries, with awareness of where Thai law intersects with other jurisdictions.

Regular, Clear Communication

Clients are updated on developments in plain terms. We do not leave people to wonder where things stand; steady communication is part of the service.

Inheritance Law in Thailand — What We Know and How We Apply It

Thai inheritance law is governed by Books VI of the Civil and Commercial Code, which sets out the rules for intestate succession, the requirements for valid testamentary documents, and the rights of legal heirs. Navigating this framework requires both legal knowledge and practical familiarity with the courts and registries that administer these matters in Bangkok and surrounding provinces.

Boran Legal works with Thai nationals and foreign nationals alike on the full range of estate matters: reviewing existing wills for clarity and legal effect, supporting families through the court-appointed administrator process, and representing clients in contested or complex situations. Our understanding of how Thai courts approach inheritance disputes informs the advice we give throughout.

For foreign nationals with assets in Thailand — whether land held through lawful structures, bank accounts, business interests, or vehicles — the interaction between Thai succession law and the law of the deceased's home country is an area requiring careful attention. We help families understand what applies where, and what steps are needed in each jurisdiction.

Estate planning is equally part of our work. Reviewing or drafting a Thai will, establishing clear records of assets, and considering how a family's affairs should be arranged for the future are all things we can assist with, at whatever pace and level of detail is helpful.
